Ever Been Ambushed? Once you step into the trap, your realize you’ve been sucked-in and your guts turn to water. Some of us have been fortunate enough to escape an ambush situation and live to tell about it. Many have not. Suicide is nothing short of an ambush from which you can never escape.

It has been said that suicide is “a permanent solution to a temporary problem.” Not so. Suicide is a permanent horriffic, tragic, and absolutely unnecessary act of spiritual blindness and selfishness to escape a temporary problem. And the decision to take ones own life leaves an aftermath of pain, devastation, and anguish in the lives of those left behind.

No doubt you have known someone who has taken his life. What good did it do for his wife, the children or other loved ones? How did it affect his friends?

Sometimes the circumstances in our lives seem overwhelming. It seems as if death would be the only escape. But just as “crimes of opportunity” seem to offer something beneficial, so is the false notion that death by choice will solve our problems, or at least end the suffering. Nothing could be farther from the truth.

If you have never been born again, you would go from the “frying pan” of this life into the eternal fire of hell. You do not want to do that! Don’t forget all your partners who have risked their lives to back you up on the street. Don’t dishonor all our fallen brothers who gave their lives in service by selfishly taking your own. The consequences of suicide are permanent and far worse than any problem or suffering you thought would be worth taking your own life to escape. Unfortunately, about every 20 hours in America a fellow officer steps into the ambush of suicide.
