Tim’s Biography ->

Tim Sherman served in the United States Army, Europe, for three years during the Vietnam era, 1973-1976, as a Red Eye Missile Crew Member in a Field Artillery Battalion. He later transferred to administration and served as a clerk at both the battery and battalion levels. He attained the rank of Specialist Fourth Class (SP4), received an Honorable Discharge, and was awarded the National Defense Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. (See Military Outreach).
He is a 1977 graduate of the San Bernardino County, (CA), Sheriff’s Regional Training Academy and served in law enforcement as a full-time and part-time police officer in California from 1976-1987.

Tim has also served as a police dispatcher, EMT, and a Volunteer Firefighter in Riverside County, CA.

Tim’s background also includes four years of retail loss prevention management investigating internal theft in a tri-state area for a major retail corporation. He is a graduate of the Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates Interview and Interrogation Techniques training.
He holds a Baccalaureate Degree in Liberal Arts, plus a fifth-year teaching credential from California Baptist University in Riverside, CA.
He taught upper-elementary school for ten years from 1984-1994, the first three years of which was in the public school system in California. He taught his last seven years in private Christian schools and was also a Christian school administrator for two of those years.
Tim also taught Adult Basic Education in the California State Prison System as a contract educator for three summers from 1988-1990 at the California Correctional Center in Susanville, CA, working in both level 2 and 3 security areas. Tim maintains his teaching licenses in both California and Minnesota.
TRAINING AND CONTINUING EDUCATION:
Tim continues to attend training whenever possible in an effort to stay familiar with current legal issues and trends within law enforcement and to enhance his service to the departments he serves. His recent training includes the Basic Crisis Negotiator Course through ATOM (Association of Training Officers of Minnesota), the Basic CISM Course through JECC, the Highway Drug Interdiction and Advanced Vehicle Contraband Concealment courses through the Minnesota BCA and the Midwest Counterdrug Training Center, NIMS/ICS 100.LEa, ICS 200, ICS 700 and IS-907 “Active Shooter: What You Can Do”, through FEMA/U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the Basic Narcotics and Prescription Drug Investigations Courses through the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
CURRENT SERVICE: Tim currently serves as the Field Chaplain to three rural county sheriff’s offices and several smaller police & fire departments in northwestern Minnesota. He conducts the Set FREE! Program in three county jails and trains Biblical Law Enforcement and Corrections Chaplains across the nation. Most recently Tim has authored and teaches a three-hour “Preventing Law Enforcement Suicide” course offered free to all law enforcement agencies in the midwest.
Tim is available to assist the personnel of any law enforcement agency, EMS, or Fire Department within Minnesota and surrounding states in any emergency at no cost.


Chaplain Sherman is the Founder and Director of In PURSUIT! MINISTRIES, which trains and provides Biblical Law Enforcement and Corrections Chaplains to city, county, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and correctional institutions, as well as Fire and EMS agencies across the United States.


Tim and his wife have five children. He is commissioned as a missionary Chaplain to Law Enforcement and Corrections, and is licensed as a Minister of the Gospel by Berean Baptist Church of Detroit Lakes, MN. (See Also Tim’s Personal Testimony)
