In PURSUIT! Ministries is a missionary outreach of Chaplain Tim Sherman conducted under the authority of Berean Baptist Church in Detroit Lakes, MN. Our mission is to inform, motivate, train, and equip men and women from the local church to serve the Lord on a voluntary part-time basis as Biblical Chaplains in law enforcement agencies and correctional institutions across the nation. These dedicated individuals serve directly under the auspice and authority of their own pastor and local church leadership board.


While the term “Chaplain” may not be found in the Bible, the principles of the work of the Biblical Chaplain clearly are: go out into the highways and hedges to compel lost souls to Christ. In reality, the jails, prisons, and squad cars which operate within our nation’s communities are integral parts of those very highways and hedges into which the local church is most often unable to go with the unchanging, powerful Truth of God’s Word which will bring true hope to those individuals in these two very different areas of need.

It is only the Truth of God’s Word that will have any lasting impact in the life of a hurting law officer who is privately struggling with a failing marriage, overwhelming stress, or depression.

It is only the Truth of God’s Word that will change the heart of a recidivistic predatory criminal which, in turn, will change his behavior.


We provide training in Biblical Law Enforcement and Corrections Chaplaincy to equip the local church to minister in these areas. We provide the Set FREE! Biblical Treatment and Discipleship Program to get the local church established in local jails and prisons; and we help the local church with presenting their services to law enforcement and correctional institutions.
